
DANCE academy
Our goal is to provide dance classes that inspire, instruct, and help dancers reach their fullest potential. The Academy Program is for those dancers wishing to take their training to new heights and is offered to dancers ages 7* and up.

Students who participate in Academy classes are not required to be on our Dance Team. However, in order to be on our Performance Dance Team you must train in our The Academy/Intensive track.
Classical Ballet I, II* (Age 7 & Up)
Classical Ballet is fundamental for all styles of dance. Students will learn classical ballet technique and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, centre floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. Our structured ballet curriculum is a combination of Royal Academy of Dance and ABT inspired technique, and as students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Classical Ballet III, Pre-Pointe (Ages 10 & Up, by invitation only)
By invitation only, Pre-Pointe is an added class to select Classical Ballet 3 students. The objective of Pre-pointe class is to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go en pointe- particularly the metatarsals and ankles. Pre-pointe class stresses correct alignment and correct classical ballet technique and allow teachers to assess readiness, offering an atmosphere for proper evaluation of important skills.





Acro III, IV, V (Ages 8 & Up)
Acrobatic Arts is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Developed with input from professionals and experts in dance, contortion, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, yoga, acro yoga, pilates, physiotherapy, and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program. Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer doing back handsprings, ariels, and tumbling effortlessly across the stage! This is a great stand-alone class for boys and girls, a fantastic addition to any dancer’s advanced training, and a required class for our SFK Performance Team. Jazz I & II (Ages 8 & Up)
A high energy, technique based style of dance, that focuses on core strength, flexibility, isolations, leaps, and turns to fast paced, contemporary music such as pop, R&B/Hip-Hop, or Broadway. All Jazz classes follow a structured SFK curriculum that includes all fundamental Jazz positions, terminology, and movement. Progress charts given in December and April. Tap (Ages 7 & Up)
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to rhythm tap & hoofing. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students’ progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Click HERE for Tap dress code



Lyrical* (Ages 10 & Up)
Lyrical class is designed for intermediate to advanced students with previous ballet training. Students will combine basic technique from ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and will learn to interpret music lyrics by telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. Lyrical is the precursor to Contemporary which can be seen in music videos such as Sia’s “Chandelier,” and much of the Emmy award winning choreography from “So You Think You Can Dance.”

*(Teacher placement required)
Initial placement is based on age as of Sept 30, 2019. However, our staff is able to move dancers outside of this placement based on each dancer's ability. Dancers may remain at any one level for several years before advancement into a higher level, based on their instructor's recommendation.

Register online for the class you would like to trial, on the registration form, type the word "TRIAL" in the discount code box. You will NOT be charged full tuition but you will receive an automated email with the full tuition prices posted. The trial fee is $25, which will go towards registration for the month upon enrollment.
