covid-19 updates from sfk
June 24, 2020 UPDATE
CAMP IS ON!
Starting July 6, our in-person camp will be BACK!
Below are the details of the safety measures and precautions we will be taking to ensure a safe, spectacular summer.
We’re so excited to be reuniting with all of our campers at our in-person camp. With the current pandemic in mind, we have been working nonstop to re-imagine our epic So Fly Kids Camp. We will of course continue to monitor and implement the local, state, and federal recommendations as they’re announced and make changes as necessary. We will be following the LA County Day-Camp Protocol found here and the ACA Field Guide found here.
Our campers will be in stable groups of no more than 12 for the entire week. Groups will be assigned consistent staff members, too. If you have friends or siblings attending let us know ASAP by emailing admin@soflykids.com so we can do our best to assign them together.
Here are the primary precautions we will take to ensure a safe experience for our campers and staff:
-
Distancing of at least 6 feet from any other group.
-
Staff and campers will have to complete a wellness survey and/or other screening to identify any potential health concerns upon arrival each day.
-
Staff will be required to wear masks throughout the duration of their day; campers will be required to upon arrival and departure only, but encouraged to the rest of the day.
-
Both staff and campers will have their temperature checked with a no-touch thermometer at the very beginning of the day.
-
Regular sanitation of facilities with hospital grade disinfectant between each group.
-
Hand washing before and after each activity.
-
Distance guides/decals will be used any time lines are needed.
-
Meals will be provided by Organic Kids LA in disposable, prepackaged kits. Utensils will be one time use only to avoid sharing.
Drop Off/Pick Up
In order to control the sizes of groups, drop-off and pick-up will be at the studio. This will ensure spacing with 6ft apart decals. Check in/out will be done one at a time. Masks are required and parents/guardians will not be allowed to enter the studio. There will be a hand washing station at the entrance for each camper to utilize before coming in. Pick-up will be done one-by-one as well. Each camper will wait inside on 6 feet apart markers until their guardian has arrived.
Not quite ready to come back in-person? We're still offering our Virtual Camp!
May 19, 2020 UPDATE
ALL JUNE camp weeks will be online (including the week of June 29).
We are currently awaiting American Camp Association guidelines, to weigh alongside government mandates, with the goal of being able to offer our in person camps in July (exact dates TBD).
We, as parents and families also affected by school closures, want to maintain a positive, yet cautious and realistic hope that daycares, schools, and programs of our size (50 or less) will be permitted to run again by July. Our goal is to absolutely get going, the second is deemed safe to do so, and we are prepared to jump in and get going with all safety measures in place. Our SFK Camp has always functioned by circulating small groups. The only time we have larger gatherings is during drop-off/pick-up and lunch, and our new July through August lesson plans have already changed to ensure we keep our small group rotations throughout.
Thank you for hanging in during this holding pattern.
We know the whole world’s on pause, ping-ponging between worry and restlessness.
We’ll keep you posted when we know more about exact dates and any pertinent deets. What can you count on now? That we’ll be counting the days until we can greet you at Camp again. ♥️
Until then, we wold LOVE to see you at our virtual So Fly Kids Camp- Out of the Box!
